« I was born in 1967 in Brussels of a father who fiercely loved the art of painting and an amateur pianist mother, admirer of Chopin's work.
Seeing her and listening to her playing was with no doubt the key of my own passion for piano.
After 10 years of classical studies at the Music Academy came a very turbulent teenage, interrupting the classic itinerary followed until then by the good upper middle-class girl I was.
It was with some friends, who survived the hippy years that I discovered Jimmy Hendrix, Funkadelic, Miles Davis, Return Forever, The Brother Johnson and more...
At the age of 15 I withdrew from school to focus on music and began to make a living by alternating various small jobs.
I prepared myself then for the enrolling exam at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, classical section, while I was also following my first jazz music classes with Alain Rochette.
Two years later, I was admitted to follow music theory classes, music analysis, harmony, choir and psycho-pedagogy.
Then one thing came quickly after the other.
I gradually became a professional sidewoman playing piano and keyboard while following my studies at the Conservatoire, but in the jazz section this time, with as teachers Charles Loos and Eric Legnini.
I played all kinds of music, soul, African, Brazilian, pop, rock, chanson française, jazz, all but classic music.
Then I left for Paris to attend a master class with Michel Petrucciani.
Meeting him was particularly special to me.
Then a few years later, as I gratuated from the conservatory, I began to feel the need for creating my own trio.
A debut album was released in 2001 "Amazone" recorded under the Igloo label with bassguitarist Cédric Waterschoot and percussionist Chris Joris and also featuring Brazilian singer Marcia Maria.
The band had a special touch, a particular sound.
We performed a lot and at the same time I was touring with, among others, The Pierre van Dormael's band called "Vivaces" and also the group "Pafum Latin" with Charles Loos.
In 2002 I won the "Django d'Or", awarded each year to a young Belgian jazz musician.
In 2006 my composition "Moon at Noon" ended up winning the SABAM competition contest meaning the work was imposed in the International Jazz Competition of Hoeilaert.
I went for a break then, had a tendonitis, self-questioning... Soon after I met the Dutch bassist Theo de Jong; this relationship changed my approach to music and life.
Our son Lenny was born in 2008 followed two years later by the album "Moon@Noon" recorded with the dutch percussionist Janco van der Kaaden at the label Mogno.»
